Abstract

EN : The article considers the basic approaches to the definition of the terms «concept» and «notion». An attempt to set the distinguishing features of the indicated terms is undertaken, to set their role in the processes of mastering, comprehension and expression of knowledge about surrounding reality. Polemic round these yet did not find two terms the logical completion, in fact as concept is a thought category which is not added direct empiric supervision, it gives enormous space for subsequent various interpretation of this term. The article presents the results of studying the English lexemes referring to the lexico-semantic field «hotel». The authors discover the structure of the lexico-semantic field, identify its nuclear and peripheral lexico-semantic groups, analyze the specificity of semantics and functioning of component lexemes, and establish the relations between the lexical units of the field. The novel by A. Hailey «Hotel» served as the research material.
