Abstract

The object of the study is wolves of the species Canis lupus L The subject of the study is the ecological features of the species Canis lupus L Research methods: accounting and monitoring of large predators, theoretical methods, empirical methods, descriptive methods, analytical methods. The goal of the qualification work is to support and restore, in coexistence with humans, the viability of the wolf population as an integral part of the ecosystems and landscape of Europe. Theoretically and experimentally defined: Wolves are top predators that play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity in the regions where they exist. However, their populations have been affected by human activities such as hunting and habitat destruction, leading to their decline and extinction in many regions. In this essay, we will explore the ecology of the wolf, its habitat, behavior, diet, and its role in the ecosystem. Wolves are found throughout the northern hemisphere, from North America to Europe and Asia. Their habitats are very diverse: from dense forests to open tundra, from mountains to plains. Wolves are adaptable and can live in a variety of environments as long as there is enough prey and cover for them to hunt and hide. Wolves are social animals that live in packs that can range in size from a few individuals to over 20. The pack is led by an alpha male and an alpha female who are the dominant breeding pair. Other members of the pack include their descendants from previous years and younger wolves that have not yet left the pack. Wolves communicate with each other through vocalizations, body language, and scent.
