The research object was the variability indicators of heart rhythm during
cognitive workload while working with a display. The aim was to elucidate the
peculiarities of heart rhythm when studying an individual's methodical activity using
progressive matrices of Raven.
The relevance of this work is driven by the increased level of workload due to
the remote conduct of classes in higher educational institutions, and the possibility of
assessing the state of adaptive mechanisms based on heart performance indicators.
Research methods employed: physiometric, statistical, deductive. Variability
indicators of heart rhythm were examined in a resting state and during cognitive
workload while interacting with a display. The execution of test tasks induced a
gradual increase in the level of centralization in heart rhythm control, reflecting the
strain on the adaptive mechanisms of the subjects studied.
Changes in the vegetative balance towards sympathetic nervous system
predominance intensify vasoconstrictive effects of regulatory systems, reducing the
efficiency of blood supply to the brain, thus limiting cognitive performance. This is
evidenced by an increase in the number of errors when working with Raven matrices.
