Особливості стилістично забарвленої лексики в романі Сідні Шелдона “If Tomorrow Never Comes...”

Abstract

UA : Дипломна робота – 56 стор., 53 джерела. Об’єкт дослідження: стилістично забарвлена лексика у романі американського письменника Сідні Шелдона “If tomorrow never comes…”. Мета роботи: визначення особливостей використання стилістично забарвленої лексики у романі Сідні Шелдона “If tomorrow never comes…”. Теоретико-методологічні засади: основні концепції стилістики та лінгвостилістики (О. Дубенко, П. Дудик та ін.), теоретичні засади лексикології та лексичної семантики (О. Бодик, Ю. Головащенко, Г. Скляревська, М. Murphy та ін.), принципи прагматичної адаптації у перекладі (Т. Ананко, J. Verschueren та ін.). Отримані результати: в романі Сідні Шелдона “If tomorrow never comes…” суб-нейтральна лексика значно переважає над супер-нейтральною із 44 проаналізованих випадків. Серед суб-нейтральної лексики найчастіше зустрічаються сленг, розмовна лексика, жаргонізми та вульгаризми, що зумовлено кримінальною тематикою роману та соціальним середовищем персонажів. У супер-нейтральній лексиці переважають варваризми, іноземні слова та архаїзми. Таке співвідношення стилістично маркованої лексики допомагає автору створити реалістичну атмосферу кримінального світу, водночас зберігаючи баланс з більш піднесеною лексикою для відображення романтичної лінії твору.

EN : The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of such a topical problem as the peculiarities of using stylistically marked vocabulary in a literary text. The object of the work can be defined as the stylistically marked vocabulary in the novel “If tomorrow never comes...” by the American writer Sidney Sheldon. The main aim of the paper consists in analyzing the characteristics of the usage of stylistically marked vocabulary in the novel “If tomorrow never comes...” by Sidney Sheldon. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: – conducting a thorough analysis and systematization of the theoretical foundations of stylistically marked vocabulary in literary texts; – investigating and classifying semantic shifts in literary works; – exploring narrative style impact and reader interpretation. Theoretical and methodological foundations: basic concepts of stylistics and linguistic stylistics (O. Dubenko, P. Dudyk, etc.), theoretical foundations of lexicology and lexical semantics (O. Bodyk, Y. Holovashchenko, H. Skliarevska, M. Murphy, etc.). Results: In the novel “If tomorrow never comes...” by Sidney Sheldon, sub-neutral vocabulary significantly prevails over super-neutral vocabulary. Among the sub-neutral vocabulary, slang, colloquialisms, jargon and vulgarisms are the most common, which is due to the criminal theme of the novel and the social environment of the characters. The super-neutral vocabulary is dominated by barbarisms, foreign words and archaisms. The strategic use of stylistically marked vocabulary allows the author to balance the gritty criminal atmosphere with romantic nuances, creating a narrative that simultaneously captures the genre's harsh realism and emotional complexity.
