Образи природи в художніх текстах англійськомовних письменників ХХ століття

Abstract

UA : Робота викладена на 68 сторінках друкованого тексту. Перелік посилань включає 79 джерел. Об’єктом дослідження є образи природи у творах англомовних письменників-модерністів: “Heart of Darkness” Джозефа Конрада, “The Great Gatsby” Френсіса Скотта Фіцджеральда та “A Farewell to Arms” Ернеста Хемінгуея. Мета роботи: визначення найбільш вживаних стилістичних засобів для зображення образів природи в художньому тексті. Теоретико-методологічні засади: лінгвостилістичні дослідження словесного пейзажу (М. Н. Епштейн, Ю. Ю. Худяєва, Т. Ф. Гостєва та інші). Отримані результати вказують, що формування образного складнику пейзажу у романах модерністів відбувається шляхом використання різноманітних стилістичних засобів. У творах “Heart of Darkness” Джозефа Конрада та “The Great Gatsby” Френсіса Скотта Фіцджеральда переважають лексичні засоби створення пейзажного образу. Найуживанішими стилістичними засобами виступають епітети та порівняння, що дозволяють впливати на емоції читача, зазначати місце і час дії, акцентувати кульмінацію, зображати місцевий колорит та створювати відповідну атмосферу. Для роману “A Farewell to Arms” Ернеста Хемінгуея характерним є використання широкої палітри синтаксичних засобів. Найчастіше автор звертається до полісиндетону та інверсії, які підкреслюють ідейно-художню функцію пейзажу, що проявляється у згубному впливі людини на світ природи.

EN : The work is presented on 68 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 79 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of the ways of linguistic reproduction of landscape images with the help of stylistic means and definition of their functions in the composition of literary texts of modernists. The object of the work can be defined as the images of nature in the works of English-language modernist writers: “Heart of Darkness” by Joseph Conrad, “The Great Gatsby” by Francis Scott Fitzgerald and “A Farewell to Arms” by Ernest Hemingway. The main aim of the paper consisted in the identification of the most used stylistic means for depicting images of nature in an artistic text. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: to systematize theoretical views on the concept of “landscape” in philological studies; identify the types of landscape descriptions in the literary text; clarify the concept of “image”; to find out and analyze the most commonly used stylistic means of landscape descriptions and their functions in Joseph Conrad's “Heart of Darkness”, Francis Scott Fitzgerald's “The Great Gatsby” and Ernest Hemingway's “A Farewell to Arms”. The results indicate that the most commonly used stylistic means are epithets and comparisons that allow to influence the reader's emotions, indicate the place and time of action and emphasize the climax. E. Hemingway's novel “A Farewell to Arms” is characterized by the use of a wide range of syntactic means, such as polysyndeton and inversion that emphasize the ideological and artistic function of the landscape. The scientific novelty of the presented research lies in the characterization of the main stylistic features, types and functions of landscape descriptions, indication of their place and role in the formation of the structure of modernist artistic texts.
