Мовна репрезентація концепту SEA / МОРЕ у романі Р. Л. Стівенсона «Острів скарбів»

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 54 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 73 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of such a topical problem as the importance of concepts as units of the human thinking process. The object of the work can be defined as the SEA concept as a linguistic and cultural phenomenon in the general linguistic picture of the world. The main aim of the paper consists in analyzing the means of verbalizing the concept of the sea in the reference literature and the novel “Treasure Island”, Stivenson R. L. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as:  clarification of the definition of “concept”;  summarizing and systematizing of factual materials;  establishing similarities and differences in the interpretation of the concept in different sources;  illustrating the peculiarities of language actualization of the SEA concept in the text of R. L. Stevenson’s novel “Treasure Island”. Understanding and interpretation of concepts depends on many conditions, such as historical epoch, stage of development of science, economic condition of society. In the explanatory dictionaries of the XXI century and the work of art of the XIX century, the SEA concept is represented by different means of verbalization and is perceived differently. Scientists use terms and tokens to explain weather phenomena, geographic location, ways of using objects. Stevenson R. L. in his novel “Treasure Island” (Stivenson, 1990) describes what emotions arise in sailors because of weather conditions, what do they feel when going ashore, what actions do the open sea encourages for. The meaning embedded in a concept depends on the purpose of using.

Теоретико-методологічні засади: ключові методи дослідження концептів, систематизація засобів виразності концепту для структурування лексем у загальній картині світу. Отримані результати: концепт, як явище когнітивної свідомості, поняття не статичне. Розуміння та тлумачення концептів залежить від багатьох умов, таких як історична епоха, етап розвитку науки, економічний стан соціуму. В тлумачних словниках ХХІ сторіччя та художньому творі ХІХ сторіччя концепт SEA/МОРЕ репрезентується різними засобами вербалізації та сприймається не однаково. Науковці використовують терміни та лексеми для пояснення погодних явищ, георгафічного розташування, способів використання предметів. Р. Л. Стівенсон у романі «Острів скарбів» (Stivenson, 1990) описує які емоції викликають погодні умови у мореплавців, що вони відчувають при сходженні на берег, до яких дій спонукає відкрите море. Смисл, який закладено в концепт, залежить від цілей використання цього концепту.
