Особливості перекладу англомовного політичного дискурсу (на матеріалі промов Джо Байдена)

Abstract

EN : The presented paper deals with the issue of political discourse translation, mainly political speeches based on the analysis of remarks made by the President of the United States of America Joe Biden. The scientific research studies the information on the essence of notions “political discourse, “political speech” and their peculiarities; language functions and classification of this category of texts; linguistic and stylistic peculiarities of Joe Biden’s political speeches. In addition, the master's theses provided description of the main strategies for political speeches translation from English into Ukrainian defining their specific features. The paper also analyzed the characteristics of English political speeches and their structure. The research also emphasized the difficulties in the translation of lexical, phonetic and grammar peculiarities of political speeches. They include translation of emotional vocabulary, parallel constructions, Infinitive constructions, Passive Voice, causative sentences and other. The priority of translation techniques used while working with political speeches belongs to the translation with maintaining of their expressive connotation and the search of equivalents in Ukrainian paying special attention to situational context. Besides, concretization, modulation, calque, grammatical and lexical changes, addition, and transcription/transliteration are also applied. The translation of political speeches is based on the appropriate level of knowledge of particular spheres and the context, which is provided in the original message. A translator has to decide which translation transformations should be used in a particular case.

Мета роботи: дослідити особливості англомовних політичних промов на прикладі виступів Джо Байдена, виявити характерні риси перекладу та доцільні способи передачі змістовного навантаження промов з англійської на українську мову. Теоретико-методологічні засади: концепції та положення, що містяться в ряді робіт таких відомих дослідників в області теорії перекладу й теорії дискурсу як В. М. Аміров, В.П. Даниленко, Т. Р. Кияк, А. В. Крижанівська, О.О. Реформатський, А. П. Чудинова та інших. Отримані результати: політичний дискурс та тексти політичних промов є важливою складовою лінгвістичних досліджень. Основними ознаками політичного дискурсу є: часте використання безособових конструкцій; емоційно-забарвленої лексики; паралельних синтаксичних конструкцій; великої кількості лексичних й граматичних одиниць широкої конотації, інші. До особливих рис ораторського стилю Джо Байдена належать: значна кількість «байденізмів»; одно- та двоскладові реченні; поєднання двох простих речень у одне; лексико-стилістичні повтори; надання переваги ввідним конструкціям; наголос на загальнонаціональних цінностях; та значна кількість речень із конструкцією «let me». При передачі англомовних текстів політичних промов українською мовою широко використовуються калькування, транскрипція/транслітерація, конкретизація, модуляція, граматичні заміни, перестановки, додавання та пошук українського еквіваленту.
