Трагедії Вільяма Шекспіра в світлі теорії травми

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 65 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 86 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of Shakespeare’s tragedies in the light of trauma theory. The object of the study includes the Roman play "Coriolanus" and the comedy "The Merchant of Venice" by William Shakespeare as the texts in which some different types of trauma acquire a consistent artistic explanation. The main aim of the paper is to reveal the specificity of the artistic representation of traumatic experience in the Roman play "Coriolanus" and the comedy "The Merchant of Venice" by William Shakespeare, using the achievements of trauma theory. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: - profound analysis and systematization of the theoretical foundations of the theory of trauma; - investigation and approbation of the algorithm of the Shakespeare’s tragedies analysis in the light of trauma theory. The conducted research makes it possible to state that several types of traumatic experience are reproduced in the Roman play "Coriolanus" and the comedy "The Merchant of Venice" by William Shakespeare. Thus, Coriolanus experiences the trauma of exile and the trauma caused by an identity crisis, and Shylock who is one of the protagonists of "The Merchant of Venice" suffers the trauma due to his daughter's betrayal and the religious-ethnic trauma caused by the unjust treatment of the Venetian Christians towards the Jews. The playwright not only convincingly reproduces the feelings and emotional state of the characters, but also evokes the empathy of the recipients who join and share the sufferings of the heroes and in this way acquire a certain psychological experience.

Шекспіра. Теоретико-методологічні засади: ґрунтується на використанні здобутків сучасної теорії травми (Е. Сантер, Д. ЛаКапра, К. Меррідейл, М. Липовецький, М. Епштейн, К. Краут, О. Пронкевич та ін.) та досвіду світового шекспірознавства.дослідження сформована в процесі акумуляції інтелектуального досвіду теорії травми (Е. Сантер, Д. ЛаКапра, К. Меррідейл, М. Липовецький, М. Епштейн, К. Краут, О. Пронкевич та ін.) та сучасного шекспірознавства (Т. Михед, Н. Торкут, Л. Старкс-Естес та ін.), . Отримані результати: Проведене дослідження дає можливість констатувати, що у творах В. Шекспіра відтворено декілька типів травматичного досвіду. Так, Коріолан переживає травму вигнання і травму, спричинену кризою ідентичності, а персонаж «Венеціанського купця» Шейлок – травму через зраду доньки та релігійно-етнічну травму, зумовлену несправедливим ставленням венеціанців-християн до євреїв. Драматург не лише переконливо відтворює страждання і емоційний стан персонажів, але й викликає емпатію реципієнтів, які долучаються до переживаньгероїв і у такий спосіб набувають певного психологічного досвіду.
