Особливості функціонування розмовного стилю сучасної англійської мови (на матеріалі роману Дж. Грішема «Апеляція»)

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 76 pages of printed text. The list of references 65 sources. Our research deals with the peculiarities of the conversational (colloquial) style in Modern English in general and its specific features in Modern American English in fiction. The aim of the research is to learn the different approaches to the colloquial style in Modern English and its functioning on different language levels: phonetical, lexical, syntactical. The special attention is paid to the word-forming characteristics of the colloquial style and its ability to create new words in the language. The second part of the research is practical. It describes the typical and specific features of the colloquial style in the novel «The Appeal» written by the modern American writer John Grisham and in its Russian and Ukrainian translation. These features are analysed by means of the stylistic devices on the lexical, syntactical and lexical-syntactical levels. These devices are used in order to express the emotional colouring of the conversational speech and attract the reader’s attention to the point, which the author means to be the most important as for the protagonist’s characteristic and the characteristics of other personages. It is obvious that there are certain common features of the spoken speech in English and Ukrainian and in most cases they are even kept unchanged. Of course the word-forming is one of the most productive ways for creating new words. And, as we know, neologisms have always been traditional for the colloquial style. There are numerous examples of the conversion and affixation in the novel, but it doesn’t mean that its impossible to find the words which are formed by means of reduction and putting two word-stems together.

Грішема «Апеляція» англійською і українською мовою. Мета роботи: полягає у вивченні та аналізі особливостей відтворення розмовного стиля сучасної англійської мови на матеріалі американських авторів. Теоретико-методологічні засади: У зв’язку з тим, що предмет стилістики складний і неоднорідний, зрозумілими є різні погляди на виділення тих чи інших розділів стилістики як самостійної наукової дисципліни. Ключові положення викладені в роботах наступних дослідників: А. М. Пешковського, О. С. Орлова, О. С. Ахманової, А. І. Єфімова, М. Н. Кожиної. Отримані результати: Дуже важливо визначити схожість і відмінність оригінального варіанту книги та її перекладу. Отже, очевидно, що є певні спільні риси розмовної мови англійською та російською / українською мовами і в більшості випадків вони навіть залишаються незмінними. У романі є численні приклади перетворення і афіксації, але це не означає, що неможливо знайти слова, які утворюються за допомогою скорочення і поєднуючи два слова. Отже, можна стверджувати, що розмовний стиль у сучасній англійській мові має певні типові та специфічні риси, які іноді зберігаються в російському / українському перекладі. Вони стосуються головних стилістичних пристроїв, які можна спостерігати на різних мовних рівнях.
