Способи досягнення пом’якшувального ефекту в англійській мові: лінгвопрагматичний аспект

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 68 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 77 sources. The presented paper reveals the peculiarities of euphemizing processes in the English language. The object of research is the euphemistic phenomenon in the English language. The subject is linguopragmatic aspects of euphemisms functioning. The aim of the paper is to determine the linguopragmatic potential of euphemizing means in the English language. It determined the accomplishment of the following objectives: - systematize theoretical information concerning the issues of euphemisms; - characterize lingual and extralingual aspects of euphemisms; - reveal the linguopragmatic potential of euphemistic units; - describe the types of euphemisms in the English language; - unravel the suggestive potential of euphemism. The novelty of the research consists in the complex analysis of euphemistic means in the English language on different levels of the language system and clarification of the linguopragmatic effect which is achieved by euphemism usage. The reason for euphemism creation is the intrinsic necessity of human conscience to substitute acceptable words for taboos. Euphemisms are the result of conceptual derivation which is the formation of a new sense via interpreting the original negative idea. Euphemisms are classified according to semantic psychological and linguistic criteria. Euphemistic processes encompass phonetic, graphic, morphological, lexical and syntactic levels. Therefore, euphemisms are frequently used in mass media and in political speeches which is explained by their high potential for manipulating of recipients’ consciousness which is done by means of presenting negative undesired information in more pleasant acceptable way.

Предметом кваліфікаційної роботи є лінгвопрагматичні аспекти функціонування евфемістичних одиниць. Мета роботи: висвітлення лінгвопрагматичного потенціалу англійськомовних евфемізмів. Методологічною базою дослідження стали теоретичні ідеї та концепції стосовно процесів евфемії в англійській мові таких вітчизняних та зарубіжних вчених як (В. І. Заботкина, О. M. Кацев, Е. П. Коляда, Л. П. Крисін, В. П. Москвін, О. В. Обвінцева, Є. П. Сенічкіна, К. Allan, К. Burridge, R. W. Holder, J. Lawrence, D. May). Отримані результати: Причини появи евфемізмів є вроджений потяг до уникнення номінації табуйованих явищ дійсності. Евфемізація є окремим випадком концептуальної деривації, тобто процесу формування нового сенсу в результаті певного способу інтерпретації вихідного вербалізованого знання, а евфемізм, таким чином, - один із способів вторинної репрезентації знань в мові. Евфемізми можуть бути класифікованими відповідно до ряду критеріїв, зокрема семантичного, лінгво-психологічного та лінгвістичного. Евфемістичні процеси можуть проходити, на фонетичному, графічному, морфологічному, лексичному та синтаксичному рівнях мови. Застосування евфемізмів має високий сугестивний потенціал. Тому, евфемізми часто використувуються у мові політиків та ЗМІ, що пояснюється необхідністю маніпулювання свідомістю реципієнта шляхом подання небажаної інформації у більш м’якому привабливому світлі.
