Лексико-семантичне поле HOSPITAL у романі А. Хейлі “Final Diagnosis”

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 51 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 74 sources. The presented research is dedicated to the lexico-semantic field HOSPITAL. The anthropocentric approach in the linguistic analysis presupposes the necessity to investigate the lexemes and lexical groups functioning in different spheres. The research is the study of a lexico-semantic field HOSPITAL as represented in the professional novel ”Final Diagnosis” by Arthur Hailey. The investigation correlates with the main ideas of the field approach in linguistics. The discussion of the differences between the “lexico-semantic field” and adjunct notions (semantic field, functional-semantic field, nominative field, thematic field) has been suggested which helps systematize the main parameters of a lexico semantic field. The nucleus-periphery structure has been explained as well as the criteria of referring the lexemes to a certain zone. The openness and dynamic character of the field has been highlighted. The research reflects the current linguistic tendency to investigate both lexico-semantic fields and the fiction text authors’ approaches to representing them. The study analyses the origin of the lexeme “hospital”, its modern meanings and its verbalization in A. Hailey’s novel “Final Diagnosis”. The lexicon reflecting the lexico-semantic field HOSPITAL in the text has been classified into 10 lexico semantic groups with their further division into 21 subgroups. The main semantic relations between the field elements (synonymity, antonymity, hypo-hyperonimity) have been traced and exemplified. The lexico-semantic field HOSPITAL performs a special function in the novel as one of the verbal means of creating its professional context.

Теоретико-методологічні засади: ключові положення теорії лексико семантичного поля, розроблені провідними вітчизняними та зарубіжними лінгвістами (Л. Вайсгербер, Й. Трір, В. Порціг, Л. М. Васильєв, А. А. Уфімцева, Ю. М. Караулов, М. В. Жгенті, І. М. Кобозєва, О. А. Павлишенко, К. Ю. Гладченко, Е. О. Веремчук). Отримані результати: Розвідку здійснено з огляду на інтерес мовознавців до застосування польового підходу до аналізу мовних явищ та виявлення особливостей індивідуально-авторських репрезентацій лексико семантичних полів як способу відображення реальності в художньому тексті. В роботі подано огляд підходів до визначення та моделювання польових структур у сучасній лінгвістиці. Особливості мовної об’єктивації ЛСП HOSPITAL в романі А. Хейлі ”Final Diagnosis” простежено за допомогою виокремлення лексико-семантичних груп цього лексико-семантичного поля та визначення їхньої функціональної семантики в тексті. Простежено семантичну структуру лексеми «hospital», виокремлено семи, які виникають при її взаємодії з контекстом. Зафіксовано обʼєднання лексичних одиниць даного поля у 10 лексико-семантичних груп та 21 лексико-семантичну підгрупу. Визначено основні семантичні звʼязки між елементами лексико семантичного поля. Встановлено роль ЛСП HOSPITAL в романі як важливого засобу створення фахового контексту.
