Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 65 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 63 sources. The presented paper is devoted to the analysis of such an actual problem as the stylistic means of creating artistic images in the novel by F. S. Fitzgerald “The Great Gatsby”. The object of the study is the text of the novel by F. S. Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. The main aim of the work is to describe the stylistic means of creating artistic images in the novel by F. S. Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: • explore concepts and main types of stylistic techniques; • find out the role of stylistic techniques in the implementation of the author's idea; • highlight stylistic techniques as a way of interpreting the essence of heroes in fiction; • to characterize the main stylistic techniques used in the creation of images in the novel “The Great Gatsby”. The process of creating the image of a literary hero has always been and remains one of the most difficult in literary creativity. A character portrait is one of the main means of creating an image and also often causes problems for the writer. Therefore, one of the main tasks of researchers and linguists is to study the system of stylistic techniques and expressive means that are used to create a more accurate portrait of literary characters. The scientific novelty consists in an attempt to conduct an own comprehensive study of the peculiarities of stylistic means of creating artistic images in the novel by F. S. Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.

Laceb, I. Е. Miller). Отримані результати: Френсіс Скотт Фіцджеральд є одним із великих класиків не лише англомовної, а й світової літератури ХХ століття. Твори майстра прози «втраченого покоління» відносяться до світу почуттів, що відрізняються своєю камерністю. І, витримавши перевірку часом, не втратили свою чарівність та витонченість. Видатний автор у своєму творі «Великий Гетсбі» використовує такі стилістичні прийоми, як: епітет, метафора та порівняння. Образ персонажа у романі оформлений за допомогою різноманітних стилістичних прийомів та художніх засобів. У його створенні можуть тією чи іншою мірою брати участь одиниці всіх мовних рівнів.
