Особливості вербалізації гендерних стереотипів в англійськомовних мелодраматичних телесеріалах

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 61 pages of printed text, contains 3 additions. The list of references includes 50 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of such a topical problem as verbalizational features of gender stereotypes in English-speaking melodramatic TV series. The object of the work can be defined as gender stereotypes. The main aim of the paper consists of analysis of lexical connections denoting gender stereotypes. Therefore, formation of methods to overcome gender stereotypes on the example of the vocabulary of English-speaking melodramatic TV series. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: - profound analysis of the main approaches to the study of the concept of “gender stereotypes”; - distinguishing gender stereotypes’ features and their role in modern media; - investigation of the influence of stereotypes in language on the consciousness of mankind; - analysis of the lexical units of modern melodramatic TV series “Bridgerton”, “Emily in Paris”, “Anne with an E” for the presence of gender stereotypes. The definition of a “gender stereotypes” is offered in the work. Stylistic devices as antithesis and repetition serve as a linguistic emphasis of gender stereotypes. The use of feminine forms, both in the English language (using the suffix –ess or adding the word woman), and in the Ukrainian language (using the suffixes –ка, –иця, –иня, –еса) affect the reduction of the role of gender stereotypes verbally. Popularization of stereotypes is caused by the linguistic aspect of mass media, literature, advertising, song texts, and films. The use of stylistic devices i sidely spread: mostly comparisons, epithets, anaphors, and epiphoras, and grammatical constructions: mainly passive constructions and reinforcing parts of speech (adjectives and adverbs).

Мета роботи: аналіз вербалізованих сполучень, що позначають гендерні стереотипи та формування шляхів подолання гендерних стереотипів на прикладі лексики англомовних мелодраматичних телесеріалів. Теоретико-методологічні засади: ключові положення лінгвістичного впливу гендерних стереотипів на світосприйняття особистості (В. Лавриненко, Т. Кокнова, О. Гірняк, Т. В. Кравець, Ш. Берн, Дж. Уільямс та ін.). Отримані результати: з епохи античності мовним підкресленням гендених стереотипів слугують стилістичні вираження антитези та повторення. Вживання форм фемінітивів, як в англійській мові (за допомогою суфікса –ess або додавання слова woman), так і в українській мові (використовуючи суфікси (-ка, -иця, -иня, -еса) впливають на зменшення ролі гендерних стереотипів вербально. Популяризація стереотипізації зумовлена в тому числі мовним аспектом засобів масової інформації, літератури, реклами, текстів пісень та фільмів. В ході дослідження серед цитованого матеріалу лексичних одиниць виділяються використання стилістичних прийомів: здебільшого порівнянь, епітетів, анафор та епіфор та граматичних конструкцій: переважно пасивних конструкцій та підсилюючих частин мови (прикметників та прислівників).
