Object of study: phytomass reserves in the island of Khortytsia.
The aim of the study is to establish seasonal changes in the stock of phytomass in the area of the Khortytsia Island and the relationship of ungulates with its surrounding vegetation under the conditions of a constant increase in population size and population density in confined areas.
Methods of research: study of the habitats of ungulates (European roe deer, fallow deer and reindeer) and the traces of their livelihoods (places for rooting/burrowing, their "beds", places for grazing etc.) were investigated. All observations were recorded in the field diary and further analyzed. Also, animal trapping was observed during the studies. Also: field experiments.
The novelty of the topic lies in the fact that the study of this problem globally has been insignificant and requires in-depth investigation. There is a close relationship between herbivorous animal species and the diversity of flora which simultaneously functions as their habitat. However, with a dense population of ungulates in a confined area, the impact on vegetation is increasing. This is one of the main issues hunting grounds are faced with.
This work is relevant due to the fact that biodiversity conservation under the conditions of a confined area manifests itself as a major issue. Conservation of protected areas contributes to the increase in the density of animals, so monitoring of the state of phytocenoses is necessary to determine how strong the impact of ungulates on vegetation is.
Practical value of this study: the results of this research allow us to assess and evaluate, first and foremost: the damage ungulates cause on the lower tiers of forests thereby destroying the undergrowth, which in turn slows down or even completely halts the restoration process. Arboriculturists need to make a lot of effort to reduce the impact on the vegetation and prevent it from complete annihilation.

Об’єкт досліджень – Запас фітомаси о. Хортиця
Мета дослідженнявстановити сезонні зміни запасу фітомаси на острові Хортиця та взаємозв’язок ратичних та рослинності при постійному збільшенні чисельності та щільності популяції на обмежених територіях.
Методи дослідження – досліджувались місця мешкання копитних тварин (козулі європейської, лані та оленя шляхетного) та сліди їхньої життєдіяльності (порої, місця лежання, поїдів). Усі спостереження заносились в польовий щоденник та в подальшому аналізувались.Також під час досліджень проводилось троплення тварин. Польовы експерименти.
Новизна теми полягає в тому, що вивчення даної проблеми у світі має вузькі межі і потребує поглибленого вивчення. Існує тісний зв'язок між рослиноїдними видами тварин та різноманітністю флори, як середовищем існування. Та при щільній чисельності популяцій копитних на обмеженій території вплив на рослинність значно зростає. Це одна з головних проблем мисливських угідь.
Дана робота актуальна у зв’язку з тим, що велику проблему становить збереження біорізноманіття на обмежених територіях. Охорона заповідних територій сприяє зростанню щільності тварин, тому необхідний моніторинг за станом фітоценозів, щоб визначити наскільки сильний вплив ратичних на рослинність.
Практичність роботи - результати досліджень надають змогу оцінити в першу чергу: копитні пошкоджують нижні яруси лісів та знищують підлісок і тим самим уповільнюються або зовсім припиняються процеси відновлення. Лісоводам потрібно докласти чимало зусиль для того, щоб зменшити вплив на рослинність та вберегти її від повного знищення.
