Поетика роману "Origin" Д. Брауна

Мета роботи: висвітлення ключових особливостей поетики роману Д. Брауна “Origin”, осмислених крізь призму літературознавчої теорії доби постмодернізму. Теоретико-методологічні засади: теоретичні аспекти дослідження поетики роману доби постмодернізму (Р. Барт, П. Во, Б. Енглер, П. Загорін, У. Еко, Ю. Крістєва, Ж.-Ф. Ліотар, Н. А. Сизоненко, Л. Хатчен та ін.) Отримані результати: роман органічно вписується у контекст біографії та творчого шляху письменника. Автобіографічні мотиви реалізуються тут через організацію сюжету як «пошуку скарбів», вибір питання про походження людини в якості центральної проблеми роману, семантизацію локацій і введення образу ідеального священика – отця Бен’я. Роман “Origin” генетично пов’язаний як з циклом про Роберта Ленгдона, так і з першим твором письменника «Цифрова фортеця» (1998). Проте, цей роман є більш серйозним за своєю проблематикою, аніж попередні твори автора. Його динамічний сюжет збалансований за рахунок паратекстуальних елементів, метатекстуальних фрагментів та інтертекстуальності, а елементи історіографічної літератури використовуються з більшою виваженістю. Усе це відкриває для автора більш широкі можливості для художньої рефлексії над актуальними проблемами сучасності, серед яких стосунки науки і релігії, роль релігії у суспільстві, глобалізація, цифрова революція, можливості штучного інтелекту і відповідальність вчених за технологічні інновації.

EN : The work is presented on 65 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 65 sources. The presented paper focuses on highlighting the key features of the poetics of D. Brown's novel “Origin”, as seen through the lens of postmodern literary theory. The object of the work can be defined as the peculiarities of poetics that can be found in the literary works by D. Brown. The last novel of the writer “Origin” (2017) was chosen as the subject of literary analysis. The main aim of the paper is to define the key features of poetics characteristic of D. Brown's novel “Origin” in the context of postmodern literary trends. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: - to systematize the theoretical principles of analyzing the poetics of literary works of the postmodern era; - to consider the phenomenon of intertextuality as a poetic dominant of the postmodern novel; - to find out the key poetic features of historiographic metafiction; - to highlight the specifics of Dan Brown's novel “Origin” in the context of the biography and other works of the writer; - to determine the general poetic features of the novel “Origin”; - to reveal the key strategies of using paratextual, intertextual, metatextual fragments and elements of historiographic metafiction in the novel “Origin”. Theoretical and methodological foundations of the paper include research on the poetics of the postmodern novel conducted by B. Engler, A. Garcia, L. Hutcheon, N. A. Sizonenko, N. A. Smirnova, P. Waugh, P. Zagorin etc. On the basis of the conducted analysis the following conclusions were drawn. “Origin” contains autobiographical motives which are reflected in the choice of the locations, problems, “treasure hunt” plot elements and the character of Father Joaquim Beña. The novel is organically integrated into the context of Dan Brown’s other works. However, “Origin” is characterized by a wider range of problems considered with more insight and depth than the previous works of the author. It is built as a complex mechanism that performs two key functions: to get the reader interested with the help of the dynamic plot and to involve the reader in discussing the relationship between religion and science. The composition of the novel, which is similar to a collage, is hold together by one key character – Langdon’s AI friend Winston. The system of characters and locations is structured according to the opposition “religion – transitional position (cooperation and open-mindedness) – science”, and powerful metaphors are a key element that serves this purpose. The dynamic plot in this novel is expertly balanced by paratextual elements, metatextual fragments, intertextuality, and elements of historiographic metafiction which are used with greater discretion than in Brown’s previous works. All these creative solutions open up new opportunities for artistic reflection on current issues of modernity, including globalization, the possibilities of artificial intelligence and the responsibility of scientists.
