Особливості функціонування міфонімів у сучасній англійській мові

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 68 pages of printed text, contains 1 application. The list of referencs includes 112 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to analysis of typical mythonyms’ features, their extrapolation of mythological features to a new lingual situation and estimation of the transnominative potential of the mythonyms in Modern English. The object of the work can be defined as the the English language mythonyms. The main aim of the paper consists in investigation of English language mythonyms and establishment of their features of functioning in Modern English language. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: − to outline the characteristics and functions of mythologems; − to investigate the features of cognitive rethinking of mythonymic units; − to highlight the specifics of the functioning of mythonimic phrases in Modern English. The definitions of a “myth” and “mythonym” are offered in the work. The main peculiarities of mythologems are: the lack of plot, retrospective, allusiveness and discontinuity; The main functions of mythonyms are connotative, symbolic, retrospective and associative. The performed analysis showed that сognitive basis of mythonym use consists in the metaphorical resemblance of their features with the traits of a certain life situation. Frequent use of mythonyms is therefore explained by their ability to extrapolate mythological features to a new lingual situation. The study identifies the basic principles of the transnomination process, which points to the connection of the mythonyms with the cultural memory of the people, mentality and the collective unconscious.

Керен’ї, А. Суперанська, Н. Подольска, А. Білецький та ін.), когнітивній лінгвістиці (С. Воркачов, Є. Кубрякова, А. Вежбицька, Л. Ленекер) та психології (Ж. Піаже). Отримані результати: міфонімічні вирази найчастотніше функціонують в академічному, неакадемічному та художньому контекстах. Найбільш репрезентативним в плані дослідження міфологічної картини світу та міфонімів є аналіз когнітивний підхід, адже в ньому найбільш повно представлені процеси мислення виражені в мові, а саме в міфологемах, і стає можливим розглянути еволюцію міфу та висвітлити їх трансномінативний потенціал. Окрім трансномінативного потенціалу, міфоніми демонструють словотвірний потенціал. До найпродуктивніших засобів словотворення належать суфіксація, осново-складання та семантична деривація. Процес деонімізації міфологем відбувається на основі принципу апперцепції, завдяки якому можна простежити на прикладі використання міфонімів у сучасних контекстах, тобто осмислення нового крізь призму минулого досвіду ̶ міфічних сюжетів, які є культурною пам’яттю соціуму. Використання мовцями міфонімів у сучасній англійській мові демоснтрує міфологічне мислення суспільства.
