EN : The work is presented on 63 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 86 sources.
The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of such a topical problem as
the cognitive-semantic features of the regionally marked vocabulary of the
Australian and New Zealand varieties of the English language.
The object of the work can be defined as lexical units of Maori origin in New
Zealand English and phraseological units of Australian origin in Australian English.
The main aim of the paper consists in revealing the cognitive-semantic
features of the regionally marked vocabulary of Australia and New Zealand in
periodicals. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as:
- define cognitive linguistics
- distinguish the peculiarities of the formation and development of Australian
and New Zealand variants of the English language
- work out the use of vocabulary in periodicals.
The Maori language is still actively used in the New Zealand version of
English in all areas of public life. The vocabulary of a household and family nature
was used most often, denoting home, and family relations. Australian English
idiomatic expressions cover all areas of Australian life, from the everyday to the
political. Some of the idioms were borrowed from other languages, but they spread
their meaning and now reproduce the realities of Australia better than the country
from which they were borrowed.
The scientific novelty of the presented research lies in the investigation of the
cognitive-semantic features of the lexical units of Australian and New Zealand
English.
