Розвиток словникового складу англійської мови під впливом суспільно-політичних рухів початку ХХІ століття

Abstract

EN : The work is presented on 64 of printed text. The list of references includes 62 sources. Language as a living system is in the process of continuous development. The lexical system is the most vulnerable to change, as it absorbs and reflects the concepts and phenomena caused by changes in the socio-political and cultural life of people. The beginning of the twenty-first century is characterized by global socio political, economic and cultural transformations and cataclysms: the change of the borders of the European Union, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aggravation of racial discrimination, sexism, violence, etc. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the need to analyze the processes and phenomena that occur in the vocabulary of the English language at the beginning of the XXI century. The purpose of the thesis is to study the general trends in the development of the lexical composition of the English language at the beginning of the XXI century; changes in the ways and means of enriching the vocabulary of the language based on the analysis of neologisms formed under the influence of socio-political movements of the early XXI century. We have analyzed more than 60 lexical formations that appeared in English under the influence of three socio-political movements of the early XXI century: Mee Too, Brexit, and movements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have proved that blending remains one of the most productive means of word formation. The next are compounding and conversion. A large number of neologisms are partial (have a new meaning).

Мета роботи: дослідження загальних тенденцій розвитку лексичного складу англійської мови на початку ХХІ століття; змін у шляхах і способах збагачення словникового складу мови на основі аналізу неологізмів, утворених під впливом суспільно-політичних рухів початку ХХІ століття. Теоретико-методологічні засади: теоретичні положення взаємодії мови і суспільства (І. Бодуен де Куртене, В. Жирмунський). Шляхи і способи творення нових номінативних одиниць (Г. Ісаєва, І. Гальперин, Ю. Жлуктенко, О. Єсперсен, Е. Бортничук, Л. Пастушенко). Розвиток словникового складу сучасної англійської мови (С. Єнікєєва, Ю. Зацний). Отримані результати: нами проаналізовано понад 60 лексичних новоутворень, що з'явилися в англійській мові під впливом трьох суспільно політичних рухів початку ХХІ століття: Mee Too, Brexit, рухи пов'язані з пандемією COVID-19. Нами доведено, що одним із найпродуктивніших способів словотворення залишається контамінація (англ.blending): “bracceptance”, “Braccident”, “coronnials”, “coronababies”. Наступними є словоскладання (“brexitography”, “brexitometer”, “brexitology”) та конверсія (“to brexit” та “to regrexit”). Велика кількість неологізмів є частковими (новими за знаменем), а саме “social distancing”, “harassment”, “grooming”, “lockdown”, “quarantine” тощо.
