Abstract
EN : The Master's thesis consists of 99 pages, contains 12 sources, 37 monographs and articles, and 11 appendices. Categories and concepts: image of Europe, historical narrative, historical memory, game mechanics, identity, interactivity, Eurocentrism. Object of study: historical computer games as a form of digital representation of the past. Subject of study: the image of Europe and the peculiarities of its construction in the narratives of historical computer games. Purpose of the work: consists in the possibility of applying the obtained results in teaching disciplines related to the history of Europe, historical culture, and digital humanities. The research materials can also be used in museum, exhibition, and educational projects aimed at popularizing history through gaming formats. Scientific novelty and theoretical significance: consists in the fact that for the first time in Ukrainian historiography, a systematic analysis of the image of Europe in historical computer games has been attempted. The work combines methods of historical-cultural analysis, media studies, and comparative studies to examine how digital media shape perceptions of the European past. A typology of game models for representing Europe in historical games is proposed for the first time. Practical significance: the materials and results of the study can serve as a basis for studying the digital representation of the past as a modern cultural and political phenomenon that combines historical narratives, game mechanics, and identity formation. Conclusions: The study led to the following conclusions: Analysis of game narratives revealed that the image of Europe is constructed as a civilizational "core" based on the ideas of progress and Eurocentrism, becoming a powerful tool of "soft power" in shaping players' consciousness. The combination of ideological and technological factors creates conditions where the European experience is presented as a universal benchmark, which requires systematic academic attention to popular digital formats to protect historical truth from simplified stereotypes. The modern video game functions as a strategic springboard for the transmission of cultural values and the formation of identity, proving that the digital representation of the past is a space of intense information competition. In conclusion, it is worth saying that the case of the game image of Europe is an illustration of how interactive technologies become one of the most influential tools of modern historical policy and psychological influence.
