Abstract
EN : The work is presented on 72 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 58 sources. The object of the study is the phenomenon of "childfree" as a socio-psychological phenomenon. Today, transformational changes are taking place in all spheres of social life, including family life, which directly affect the socialization of modern youth. One of the problems that is increasingly being raised in discussions among scientists is "childfree" - a conscious refusal of motherhood and fatherhood. According to research results, in the EU and the USA, the prevalence of voluntary non-motherhood is about 6%, while in Ukraine, according to the 2008 study "Family and Children", 1.2% of people agreed with the idea of "childfree" (refusal of children by one's own choice). Moreover, in younger age groups (up to 30 years old) this figure was slightly higher - 1.5%, but among older people (over 30 years old) it was much lower - only 0.7%. Thus, voluntary non-motherhood in Ukraine depends more on age than on gender [1]. Researchers describe changes in the fertility rate in Ukraine since 1991, focusing on how this indicator has declined over the decades: from 1.78 children per woman in 1991 to 1.08 in 2001, with a slight increase to 1.53 in 2012 and a decrease again to 1.37 in 2017. This decline in fertility is explained by economic and social changes, in particular, Ukraine's transition to more developed industrial or post-industrial societies, which is accompanied by a high level of urbanization and the emancipation of women. The scientific novelty lies in the integration of psychological and social psychological approaches to studying the phenomenon of "childfree".
