Сленгові назви грошей і фінансових відносин в різних регіональних варіантах англійської мови

Abstract

UA : Кваліфікаційна робота – 86 стор., 57 джерел. Об’єкт дослідження: фінансовий сленг у сучасній англійській мові в його семантичному, прагматичному та соціокультурному вимірах. Мета роботи: здійснити комплексний аналіз сленгових позначень грошей у різних регіональних варіантах англійської мови (британському, американському, австралійському та новозеландському) з урахуванням їхніх функцій, контекстів вживання та труднощів перекладу. Теоретико-методологічні засади дослідження на соціолінгвістичний, прагматичний, структурно-семантичний, дискурс-аналіз та лінгвокультурологічний підходи. Використано соціолінгвістичний, прагматичний, структурно-семантичний та дискурс-аналіз для комплексного вивчення фінансового сленгу та його культурної специфіки. Отримані результати: – визначено ознаки, функції та типи сленгу, виділено фінансовий сленг як окрему мовну підсистему; – проаналізовано семантичні, прагматичні та регіональні особливості грошових позначень; – вивчено функціонування фінансового сленгу в різних комунікативних контекстах, включно з медіа, літературою та повсякденним спілкуванням. Робота має прикладне значення для лексикографії, викладання сучасної англійської мови, перекладознавства та соціолінгвістичних студій.EN : The presented paper is devoted to the linguistic and sociocultural analysis of the phenomenon of financial slang in modern English. The object of the study is financial slang and its semantic, pragmatic, and social characteristics in various regional varieties of the English language, including British, American, Australian, and New Zealand English. The main aim of the work is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of slang-based monetary expressions and to identify the functional, cultural, and translational aspects of their usage in discourse. This aim determined the completion of the following objectives: – in-depth examination and systematization of theoretical approaches to slang as a linguistic phenomenon; – analysis of the semantic and pragmatic traits of financial slang as a subtype of professional vocabulary; – identification of region-specific features of monetary slang expressions; – investigation of the contextual and discourse-specific use of financial slang in media, literature, and everyday communication; – analysis of the challenges in translating financial slang and outlining strategies of pragmatic adaptation. The term “financial slang” is defined and interpreted in the work as a dynamic, metaphorically rich and socially marked lexical subsystem. The research proves that financial slang reflects group identity, socio-economic trends, and functions as a marker of informal professional communication. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the cross-regional approach to financial slang and in the integration of discourse analysis, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics to reveal the mechanisms of its formation, distribution, and perception.
