Abstract
Фільми Роберта Земекіса: “Allied”, “Forrest Gump”, “The Walk”.
EN : The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of the multimodal metaphor in the English-language film text. The object of the research can be defined as the multimodal metaphor in the English-language film text. The main aim of the study consists in describing the peculiarities of metaphor realization in film texts, their meaning, and their influence on the overall interpretation and perception of the film message. The theoretical and methodological framework of the research is based on the works of national scholars dealing with film texts, as well as on the classical theory of metaphor by George Lakoff, studies of visual metaphor by L. Yu. Kravtsova, and others. The material of the analysis includes Robert Zemeckis’s films: Allied, Forrest Gump, and The Walk. As a result of the research objectives, the goal was achieved, and it was revealed that a film text represents a specific type of artistic text and therefore follows the general principles of literary analysis. During the analysis, three film texts were examined, and over sixty metaphorical images were identified, forty of which were described in detail in the second chapter. All the images were divided into two subgroups, within which sixteen metaphorical models were detected. The analysis has shown that object-related images and object-based metaphorical models are the most widespread. The most frequent natural metaphorical models include: WOMAN IS A BIRD, TREE IS A FAMILY, DAWN IS A BEGINNING. The most recurrent universal metaphorical model is ROAD IS LIFE. Many of the identified images are repeated or confirmed across several, or even all, of the analyzed film texts, which indicates the systematic character of multimodal metaphorical thinking in Zemeckis’s works.
