Abstract

EN : The work sets the task of removing alloying impurities from the copper melt during production from secondary raw materials. The world production and consumption of copper are shown. It is established that the only source of raw materials for copper production in Ukraine today is secondary raw materials, which are characterized by an unstable chemical composition with a different content of impurities. The main impurities in copper, their phase diagrams and their influence on the properties of copper are considered. The main impurities in copper are bismuth, antimony, lead, sulfur, oxygen. It is established that all impurities are conventionally divided into three groups by the nature of their interaction with copper. It is proved that the main method of removing impurities from copper is fire refining in a reverberatory furnace. A thermodynamic analysis of the main reactions occurring during copper refining is performed. The process of purifying copper melts from harmful impurities is proposed to be carried out in two consecutive stages. This is oxidation, and then slagging of impurities. A study was conducted on the influence of copper phosphide Cu3P on the degree of purification was evaluated on the main alloying impurities of tin, lead, zinc, and antimony. The most managed to remove the impurity zinc by 69.2%, antimony by 25.8%, tin by 24.7% and lead by 20.5%. When analyzing the content of impurities in refined copper, the following was shown that the sum of all impurities (except oxygen impurities) decreased from 0.26671 to 0.18339%, which is 31.2%. And the copper content increased from 99.56659 to 99.70181%, which made it possible to increase the grade of copper from M3 to M2.
