Abstract
EN : The work is presented on 79 pages of printed text, contains 3 figures, 3 tables, 1 appendix. The list of references includes 78 sources. The object of research: the psychological phenomenon of anxiety. Despite the fact that the twentieth century was marked by the development of the process of globalization, which covered all spheres of human activity, modern humanity is a collection of diverse cultures and civilizations. At the end of the last century, leading psychologists around the world began to define, discuss, and sometimes criticize universal psychological characteristics and mechanisms that are considered common to all cultures and civilizations. At this time, the foundations of postcolonial global and cross-cultural psychological science were laid. Today, Western psychology seeks to get rid of the colonial legacy and associations and lay the foundation for more inclusive, egalitarian relations between Western and non-Western concepts of mental phenomena. Unique psychological phenomena that cannot be described by the traditional scientific apparatus are the so-called "culturally specific syndromes", characteristic of limited human communities of certain countries and territories. Most often, it is "culturally specific syndromes" that are the cause of many anxiety states. Such fears depend very much on a specific culture. The same social behavior can be perceived as normal in one culture and "unreasonable and excessive" in another. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that this work is one of the first attempts in the Ukrainian-speaking scientific psychological environment to characterize the phenomenon of "culturally specific syndrome" and its influence on the development of anxiety.
