Abstract

EN : The qualification paper consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusions, a list of sources and literature. The volume of the work is determined by its content and stated objectives. Keywords: Euroscepticism, European integration, Balkan countries, North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo, foreign policy influence, populism, nationalism, political transformation, economic instability. The object of the study is Euroscepticism as a socio-political phenomenon in the public and political life of the Balkan countries. The subject of the research is the causes of the formation and the consequences of the manifestation of Eurosceptic sentiments among the population of the Balkan countries, and their influence on the processes of European integration in the region. The purpose of the study is to identify the origins and spread of Euroscepticism among the population of the Balkan countries, analyze its main forms of manifestation, and evaluate the consequences of this phenomenon for the processes of European integration and internal political development in the region during the 21st century. The scientific novelty of the research lies in a comprehensive approach to the analysis of Euroscepticism as a multidimensional socio-political phenomenon in the context of the Balkan region. The work summarizes and systematizes the main causes of the spread of Eurosceptic sentiments; determines the correlation between the level of economic development, political stability, and the intensity of Euroscepticism; characterizes the peculiarities of Euroscepticism's manifestations in individual states of the region; analyzes the consequences of this phenomenon for European integration and the internal political dynamics of the Balkans; and offers practical conclusions regarding possible directions for overcoming negative manifestations of Euroscepticism and strengthening public trust in the EU. The relevance of the research stems from the growing significance of Euroscepticism in the Balkan states, where the aspiration for EU membership is accompanied by increasing distrust of European institutions, frustration with the pace of reforms, and rising nationalist sentiments. The Balkans, with their complex ethnic, cultural, and historical heritage, are strategically important for the EU (security, energy, migration policy). Euroscepticism in countries like Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania is not a homogeneous phenomenon. Its nature is driven by a combination of socio-economic factors (low living standards, unemployment, labor migration), political contradictions (corruption, governmental instability), cultural and historical aspects (national identities, traditional values), and the influence of external geopolitical actors (russia, China, Turkey). The consequences of rising Eurosceptic sentiments have an internal dimension (decreased support for pro-European reforms, reinforcement of populism, growth of authoritarian tendencies) and an external one (slowing the EU enlargement process, reducing the impact of European stabilization policy, and creating a grey zone). The research has significant practical value as it contributes to the development of effective communication strategies and the adaptation of integration processes to the social realities of the region. To ensure the objectivity and comprehensiveness of the analysis, a complex of general scientific and special research methods was used: the analytical method (to generalize scientific approaches), the comparative method (to juxtapose forms of Eurosceptic sentiments in different states), the historical method (to identify the stages of trend formation), the systemic approach (to view the phenomenon as a complex system), and the prognostic method (to assess the potential consequences of increasing Euroscepticism).
