Abstract
ЕN : The master’s thesis investigates flight controller configuration systems for UAV, identifies the main shortcomings of existing FPV configurators, and proposes an intermediary automation module for UAV control functions – takeoff, hovering and safe landing. The system is built around a microcontroller and a ToF rangefinder. The developed module operates as a pass-through link in the control signal line between the radio receiver and the flight controller, completely eliminating the need to modify the flight controller firmware. The research has achieved a significant reduction in operator workload and increased operational durability of FPV drones. Experimental tests confirmed the system’s robustness to intense ambient light, vibration and moderate aerosol contamination – conditions critical for most alternative ranging solutions. The module is characterized by a high level of modularity, plug-and-play integration and reproducibility. It is ready for practical application in logistics missions, aerial mapping, territory monitoring, pilot training and other scenarios with multiple takeoff-landing cycles.
