EN : Qualification paper: 52 pages, 3 figures, 3 tables, 46 references. Object of the study – functional fitness of 12–14-year-old athletes engaged in table tennis. Subject of the study – changes in functional fitness indicators of 12–14-year-old athletes under the influence of systematic training sessions in table tennis. Purpose of the study – to determine the level of functional fitness of 12–14-year-old athletes engaged in table tennis and to establish the characteristics of its changes during systematic training sessions. Research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observations; anthropometric measurements; assessment of functional state using the “ShVSM” software; express diagnostics of physical health using the “OBERIH” software; methods of mathematical statistics. The study involved a comprehensive evaluation of the functional fitness of 12–14-year-old athletes training in beginner-level table tennis groups. Special attention was given to the condition of the cardiorespiratory system, the level of general physical working capacity, and the integral indicators of physical health, which are essential for effective performance in table tennis. Diagnostics were conducted twice — at the beginning and at the end of a seven-month training cycl The results demonstrated that systematic training sessions in table tennis significantly improved the functional fitness indicators of the athletes. In particular, positive dynamics were recorded in general physical working capacity, aerobic performance, the functioning of the cardiorespiratory system, and the integral indices of physical health. Improvements were also observed in speed, speed-strength, and coordination abilities, which are crucial for the development of technical and tactical skills in table tennis. The findings confirm that consistent use of table-tennis-specific training tools in the training process of 12–14-year-old athletes has a substantial positive effect on the functional state of the body and on their overall sport-specific working capacity. The study highlights the importance of scientifically grounded approaches to assessing the functional fitness of young athletes and demonstrates the value of modern computer-based diagnostic tools for monitoring functional indicators. The results of the work may be used in the practice of youth sports schools, by table tennis coaches, in the preparation system of athletes at the initial stages of training, and for improving training programmes.
