Abstract
EN : The diploma thesis, totaling 68 pages, is devoted to the study of the acclimatization features of the raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides) under the conditions of Ukraine. During the research, 52 literary sources were analyzed, and field data were collected, processed, and interpreted. The work includes 11 figures and 5 tables that illustrate the results of morphological changes and the biotopic distribution of the species, as well as its range across Ukraine, with a particular focus on the Zaporizhzhia region. The object of the study is the raccoon dog – an introduced species that is actively occupying various ecological niches in Ukraine. The aim of the research was to identify the specifics of the acclimatization process of this species in transformed natural environments, especially in urbanized and anthropogenically altered landscapes, using the Zaporizhzhia region as an example. The relevance of the topic is determined by the need to study the influence of introduced animal species on local ecosystems – and vice versa – the impact of ecosystems on these species, the necessity of ecological monitoring, and the potential use of the raccoon dog in the hunting industry. To achieve the research goals, morphocraniological methods and methods of variation statistics were applied. The results of the study allowed for the identification of morphological features of the skull in animals adapted to urbanized landscapes, as well as the characterization of the biotopic use of the territory by the species within the Zaporizhzhia region.
