Abstract
EN : The work is presented on 53 pages of printed text, contains 7 figures, 5 tables, 5 appendices. The list of references includes 77 sources. The object of the study is the interaction between the civilian population and veterans of combat operations, including those released from captivity. The relevance of the research topic is due to several factors. First, the scale of participation of Ukrainian citizens in combat operations is unprecedented during the period of independence - hundreds of thousands of people annually return to civilian life and require successful social reintegration. Second, despite the growing number of studies in the field of military psychology, the issue of the psychological readiness of the civilian population to interact with veterans remains insufficiently studied in domestic science. Third, a separate vulnerable subgroup are veterans released from captivity, whose psychological specificity requires special knowledge from everyone who communicates with them. That is why the psychological preparation of the civilian population acquires the importance not only of personal, but also of social priority. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that: a comprehensive study of the readiness of the civilian population to interact simultaneously with combat veterans in general and with those released from captivity in particular was carried out; the leading role of empathy as a predictor of readiness for intergroup interaction was empirically confirmed using wartime material.
