Лінгвальна і соціолінгвальна характеристика афро-американського сленгу та особливості перекладу на прикладі музичних творах Гуччі Мейне

Abstract

EN : The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of such a topical problem as the lingual and social aspects of African-American Vernacular English (AAVE) and peculiarities of its translating on the example of Gucci Mane’s songs. The object of the work can be defined as the importance of Black English (BE) on the basis of songs of Gucci Mane and assessing linguistical and social-cultural aspects of Ebonics with the connection of culture, public life and crime. The main aim of the paper consists in analyzing the ways of translating of AfroAmerican Vernacular English, characterize social and lingual features of Black English. It determined the accomplishment of such objectives as: - profound analysis and systematization of the theoretical foundations of the theory of discourse; - investigation of the aspects, usage and ways of translation of Ebonics on the example of the songs by African-American artist Gucci Mane. The author distinguishes two aspects of Black English — linguistic and social. The vocabulary of AAVE was formed by West African languages, British dialects and English-based creole languages according to John McWhorter. The author shows to us the usage of AAVE language on the example of Gucci Mane’s oeuvres, demonstrating social significance of Black culture. Thus, social and cultural aspects are represented by the author. The scientific novelty of the presented research lies in the exploring how BE influence on culture, public life and the development of Ebonics throughout history and at the moment. This research demonstrates and analyzes the usage of AAVE on the example of the world-famous artist Gucci Mane.

Метою дослідження є розкриття особливостей лінгвальних і соціолінгвальних характеристик ААСу на основі носія даного варіанту англійської мови. Теоретико-метадологічні засади дослідження такі джерела як “McGraw Hill American Slang Dictionary”, “Urban Dictionary: Freshest Street Slang Defined”, “The Gen Z Dictionary”, “The Illustrated Compendium of Essential Modern Slang: Including Cray, Lit, Basic, and More”, “McGraw-Hill's Dictionary of American Slang and Colloquial Expressions”. Дослідження здійснювалися на основі використання таких методів та прийомів: лінгвістичного спостереження та аналізу, описового і компонентного методів, методу аналізу словникових дефініцій та методу сходження від абстрактного до конкретного. Отримані результати: охарактеризовані питання історії походження сленгу афро-американців, дати визначення терміну «сленг», визначені характеристика та основні функції сленгу, досліджені та систематизовані різні гіпотези історії походження ААСу, досліджені лінгвальні та соціолінгвальні особливості ААСу, проаналізовані використання сучасного ААСу на прикладах з хіп-хоп культури.
