Ономастикон іншосвіту та особливості його відтворення при перекладі (на матеріалі фентезі Т. Пратчетта “The Truth”)

Abstract

UA : Дипломна робота – 94 стор., 79 джерел. Об’єкт дослідження: ономастикон іншосвіту у творі англійського письменника Т. Пратчетта “The Truth”. Мета роботи: визначення базових стратегій передачі англомовного ономастикону в україно- та російськомовних перекладах творів жанру фентезі. Теоретико-методологічні засади: ключові положення ономастики та перекладознавства у контексті літературного жанру фентезі. Отримані результати: найбільш продуктивними способами відтворення власних назв у творі Т. Пратчетта “The Truth” є транслітерація, транскрипція, калькування, транспозиція і прямий переклад. Іншими вживаними стратегіями відтворення ономастики є синонімічна заміна та смисловий розвиток. При цьому у значній частині перекладених онімів виявляється одночасне вживання принаймні двох способів перекладу. У своїх перекладах український і російські перекладачі прагнули перш за все відобразити колорит оригінального твору, а також адаптувати його до цільового читача та правил мови перекладу. Попри наявність деяких недоліків переклад власних назв як О. Михельсоном, так і М. Берденніковим та О. Жикаренцевим у цілому можна вважати адекватним.

EN : The present study investigates the means of the rendering of the otherworld onomasticon in translation. The object of the paper is the onomasticon of “The Truth”, a fantasy book by T. Pratchett. The aim of the research lies in determining the basic strategies of the rendering of the English otherworld onomasticon in the works translated into Ukrainian and Russian. It can be accomplished by meeting the following objectives:  provision of the definition of fantasy, onomastics and proper name;  analysis of the peculiarities of fantasy and proper names;  classification of fantasy types and proper names;  description of the difficulties in the course of rendering the onomasticon;  determination of the basic translation strategies for the proper names of fantasy. The definitions of the principal notions are provided in the study. The process of the rendering the onomasticon involves a considerable number of aspects. The translators should preserve the character of the original work and consider the specifics of the target language and audience. Transliteration, transcription, loan translation, replacement, and direct translation appear to be the most frequent translation strategies. Synonymous substitution and sense development can also be applied. The scientific novelty of the present work consists in the attempt to determine the basic translation strategies for the proper names of fantasy.
