Українська християнська лексика в англомовній інтерпретації

Abstract

EN : The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of the Ukrainian Christian vocabulary of the religious Christian sphere. The main aim of work is to establish patterns and identify the mechanism of the English-language translation of Ukrainian lexical units of the religious Christian sphere. The purpose of the study led to the implementation of specific tasks: - to establish the basic provisions of interaction of language, culture and region; - to study the history of the study of Christian vocabulary in domestic linguistics; - to conduct a genetic analysis of Christian vocabulary in Ukrainian and English and identify their general and specific features; - outline thematic groups of Ukrainian Christian vocabulary; - describe the directions and strategies of translation of a religious text; - to determine the main ways of English-language reproduction of units of Ukrainian Christian vocabulary; - scientifically argue the strategy and mechanisms of translation and their feasibility. The results obtained: During the study, 2 groups of typological classification were identified – genetic (M. Yurkovskyi, I. Pavlova, T. Poletaeva, etc.) and thematic classification (O. Kovtunets, Y. Brailko, N. Puriaieva, etc.). The most frequent ways of translating tokens to denote basic Christian concepts and dogmas, as well as certain proper names and onyms, is to search for a dictionary equivalent. The interpretation of the lexical units of the sacred onomasticon and some other units of the sphere of specific Christian concepts, which are lacunar in the language of the receiver, is reduced mainly to the invention of equivalents, transcription/transliteration, tracing, explication.

Мета роботи: встановити закономірності та виявити механізм англомовної інтерпретації українських лексичних одиниць релігійно-християнської сфери. Теоретично-методологічні засади: ключові положення, розроблені українськими лінгвістами в діаспорі (І. Огієнко, О. Горбач, М. Юрковський, Я. Рудницький, М. Лесів тощо), сучасні лінгвокультурологічні (О. Михайлова, О. Жихарева, П. Мацьків) та лексикографічні дослідження (А. Ковтун, О. Ковтунець Л. Томіленко), зіставні розвідки (Л. Черноватий, Г. Боус, М. Борсук, Н. Попович) Отримані результати: У ході дослідження було виокремлено 2 групи типологічної класифікації – генетична (М. Юрковський, І. Павлова, Т. Полетаєва тощо) та тематична класифікації (О. Ковтунець, Ю. Браїлко, Н. Пуряєва тощо). Найбільш частотними способами перекладу лексем на позначення основних християнських понять та догм а також певних власних імен та топонімів є пошук словникового еквівалента. Інтерпретація лексем сакрального ономастикону та деяких інших одиниць сфери конкретних християнських понять, що є лакунарними в мові сприймача, зводиться в основному до винайдення відповідників, транскрипції/транслітерації, калькування, експлікації.
