Особливості перекладу юридичних термінів на матеріалі американського серіалу Suits

Abstract

EN : The law terminology is a complex and ambiguous phenomenon. It creates a special lexical layer, which over time undergoes changes and developing dynamically by providing communication needs of experts of the given field. The purpose of this research paper was to study structural (morphological and syntactic), derivational and semantic characteristics of lexical units in English law terminology and specific problems of it translation/ The methodology study is comprehensive. We used the following methods: descriptive – for the description of the lexical units of English law terminology, a structural method – to identify derivational patterns, which are formed in the given terminological system, the method of semantic analysis – to identify semantic shifts (metonymical and metaphorical) in the original law terms of English, and the method of quantitative analysis (statistical) – to identify tendencies of the term usage. The research procedure included the following stages: (1) to determine the current state of research problem by analyzing scientific and theoretical literature; (2) to identify ways of terminological derivation and its productivity of the given field; (3) to identify structural properties of multicomponent English terms; (4) to analyze lexical-semantic stratification of the studied terminologyfnd to analyse the transormatial patterns. To sum up, the research terminology represents the ordered hierarchical system of terms. Analyzed system of terms is a layer of vocabulary, which includes the names of objects, actions, processes, phenomena, persons directly related to the professional activities.

Мета роботи: всебічний лінгвістичний аналіз юридичної термінолексики, який полягає у виявленні системної організації сучасної англійської юридичної термінології, у з’ясуванні семантичних характеристик та функцій її терміноодиниць. Теоретико-методологічні засади: ключові положення теорії термінознавства (Л. І. Борисова, Д. С. Лотте, Є. Ф. Скороходько, Л. Н. Новикова, С. Д. Шелов); розгляд терміна на різних рівнях мови і в різних аспектах (В. Г. Гак, А. Я. Коваленко, О. А. Стишов, A. Achinstein, K. Kageura). Отримані результати: Проведений перекладознавчий аналіз українськомовного перекладу серіалу «Suits», виконаний студією «ТРК Україна», показав, що переклад можна вважати адекватним. Перекладачу вдалося відтворити лексикостилістичні особливості юридичної терміносистеми в серіалі без критичних смислових та стилістичних втрат, що можемо вважати ознакою вдалого перекладу. Також перекладач продемонстрував спроможність до находження креативних шляхів подолання трансляторних труднощів, що виникали під час відтворення комічних ситуацій юридичної тематики.
