EN : The work is laid out on 88 pages of printed text, contains 4 figures, 4 appendices. The list of references includes 82 sources. The object of the study: peculiarities of the mental development of children of older preschool age in the conditions of a preschool institution. In recent years, the preschool education system, as the initial stage of the general education system, has undergone significant changes. Today, educational institutions, including preschool ones, are forced to work in a situation of constantly changing external and internal requirements. It is obvious that independent thinking people are in demand in modern society, who are ready for self-realization, are able to make independent and balanced decisions, therefore the concept of learning and upbringing, which is implemented in education, should orient pupils to active independent cognitive activity throughout their lives. The scientific novelty of our work lies in the fact that the topic of psychological support has not yet been sufficiently explored in the specialized literature, especially since the specifics of the development of older preschool children change in connection with the start of schooling from the age of 6.
