EN : The work is presented on 72 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 99 sources, 14 pictures, 2 tables. Most of the advertising texts of recent years have a syncretic nature, as they
involve means of different semiotic systems and successfully combine verbal and
visual means of information encoding. The creolization of the text is complemented
by the heterogenety of the verbal part, frequently containing elements of different
languages. The purpose of the study is to systematize the important features of
multilingual advertising discourse, analyze its pragmatic functions.
Multilingual advertising discourse can be defined as a type of institutional
communication that occurs in different situations of verbal code switching, for
example, English (as the lingua franca) – the language of the target consumer group.
The main features of multilingual advertising discourse include the institutional,
mass nature of communication in marketing situations; intentionality,
multimodality, complexity, creolization; combining individual words or larger units
(phrases, sentences) from different languages in the advertising text;
multifunctionality (informative, nominative, symbolic, expressive, persuasive,
evaluative and other functions); global distribution through various media channels
(Internet, television, big boards, print sources); multifaceted information; significant
educational potential. Multilingual advertising discourse is a complex, multifaceted
phenomenon of modernity, which correlates with institutional communication and
involves heterogeneous means of information transmission. Multilingual advertising
discourse is a complex, multifaceted phenomenon of modernity. Analysis of the
structure, content and functions of a multilingual advertising text requires a
comprehensive interdisciplinary study.
