EN : The work is presented on 57 pages of printed text. The list og references includes 55 sources. The presented paper is dedicated to the analysis of phrasal verbs of the
English language, and particularly in English-language cinematic discourse.
The object of the work is to coverage the structural-semantic and stylistic
features of the functioning of phrasal verbs in English-language cinematic
discourse.
The relevance of this research lies in the growing interest of scholars in the
problems of using phrasal verbs, due to their constant acquisition of new meanings
in colloquial style, and the widespread use of this lexical layer in English; however
their functioning is not sufficiently studied in cinematic discourse.
The practical value of the paper is that the classification of phrasal verbs and
their semantic and structural features can be successfully used in teaching special
courses in lexicology.
The definition of a “phrasal verb” is offered in the work. The structural
features of phrasal verbs include their transitivity and intransitivity. One of the
semantic features of phrasal verbs in cinematic discourse is their ability to
metaphorical transfer, which is based on the similarity of certain features, as well
as expanding and narrowing the primary meaning of the verb and its preposition
(postposition). The functioning of phrasal verbs in English-language
cinematographic discourse today is a fairly common issue, in particular the
peculiarities of the functioning of phrasal verbs denoting movement, the
conceptual area of "mental activity" and the emotiveness of phrasal verbs on the
example of movies presented in the work.
