EN : The work is presented on 55 pages of printed text. The list of references includes 48 sources. After a detailed research and analysis, we found that manipulation is a hidden
influence on people through the programming of their behavior. The main task of
manipulation is to change people's thoughts, motivations and goals in the right
direction. The main ways of language manipulation in the mass media are lexicasemantic,
syntactic and stylistic methods of language manipulation.
In general, language means of influence have always been an integral part of
political discourse, as politicians try to implement their intentions by any means
during the election. After studying the public speeches of American presidential
candidates, it was found that they use some of the same linguistic technologies of
influencing citizens' consciousness, such as: strategies of “identification”,
“friend-or-foe”, “discrediting power”, “public humiliation” and others.
The main difference between the speeches of leaders is the emotional color,
for example, Joe Biden focuses on negative events, trying to condemn the
achievements of his predecessor. He often turned to metaphors, but less to
euphemisms, terms, antitheses, and generalizations. And incumbent President
Donald Trump is trying to deliver unsatisfactory results, calling them useful
experiences and, calling for unity, promises not to stop there and continue to
develop the country. The most common method of manipulation is metaphor, less
terminology, euphemisms and replacement of the positive construction with a
negative one.
Thus, we found that both candidates have in their arsenal a sufficient stock
of language manipulation techniques. The enormous variability of methods and
ways of their implementation are difficult to study in detail not only the speeches
of presidents, but also political manipulations in general, which confirms the
relevance of further research on selected issues.

Теоретико-методологічні засади: складають праці вчених, які досліджували мовну маніпуляцію та її технології, такі як О. Г. Руда, М. О. Зайцева, В. В. Зірка та інші.
Отримані результати: Досліджуючи текстові повідомлення публічних виступів американських кандидатів у президенти було виявлено, що вони використовують деякі однакові мовні технолгії впливу, до таких відносимо: стратегії «ідентифікації», «свій-чужий», «дискредитування влади», «публічне приниження» та інші. Джо Байден концентрується на негативних подіях, намагаючись обмовити досягнення попередника. В свою чергу, діючий президент Дональд Трамп намагається вигідно подати незадовільні результати, називаючи їх корисним досвідом та, закликаючи до єднання, обіцяє не зупинятися на досягнутому і продовжити розвивати країну. Отже, можемо зробити висновок, що обидва кандидати у президенти мають в своєму арсеналі достатній запас мовних прийомів маніпуляції.
