The obtained results indicate the importance of metaphors in English-
language political rhetoric and the need for careful translation to preserve their
effectiveness in the Ukrainian context. Starting with the theoretical justification of
the role of metaphors in political discourse, the author examines metaphorical
expressions and their semantic nuances in English-language political speeches.
Special attention is paid to the analysis of the effectiveness of metaphors in creating
emotionally charged images of opponents, defining pragmatic goals and shaping
public perception. The work contributes to the understanding of the relationship
between speech strategies and political confrontations, contributing to the
development of the field of political discourse and linguistic translation studies.
